The Royal Wedding

I'll admit it.  I got up to watch the Royal Wedding.  At 4am.

I have always been fascinated with the Royal family.  When I was a freshman in high school, I was convinced that I was going to marry William and be a princess.  It's every little girl's dream, right?  Then when Diana died, I was glued to the tv watching the coverage of the funeral.  I remember thinking how sad it must be for those boys to come to the realization that their mother will never see them grow up.

I was barely a month old when Diana married Charles, but I've always loved hearing stories from my mom and her friends about watching the wedding, about Diana's dress (especially that crazy long train), and the overall excitement.  And now it's my turn to witness history.  Live.  Because in my head, watching it on TiVo and watching it when I woke up wasn't an option.  It wasn't live.  It wasn't watching history happen.  It's not experiencing it.  It's after the fact.

I was as giddy as I used to get on the first day of school as  I sat on the couch in my pajamas at 4am and texted back and forth with one of my childhood best friends.  I wanted to have a slumber party and get up and watch it, but all my friends were against it (except for one, but they didn't get my 4am wake up call).

The wedding was an absolute real life fairy tale.  Kate looked absolutely beautiful.  William looked dashingly handsome (because that's what you say about a brand new Duke, right?).  And what about when William saw Kate for the first time and he told her she looked beautiful.  Swoon.

I am glad I got up to watch.  Maybe 30 years from now, my children will get to witness their children getting married.

How adorable is that wedding party?

My favorite thing about this picture is little Grace covering her ears!

This photo looks so formal, yet so elegant.
