livin' a little more today

yesterday, i felt like death. today i feel a little better. i'm still coughing a lot and my chest hurts...but at least i feel alive today. i feel like i have absolutely no time. the temp job is a little stressful. it takes me an hour to get home because of traffic and it's only like 15 miles...if even that. then i get home and i just want to lay around and do nothing. so needless to say...all i want to do is lay in my bed and read...or lay in front of the tv and watch it. but i've been reading some great books. it'd be nice to post some thoughts on them...but who knows...only time will tell.

jaclyn and i decorated the christmas tree tonight. it was fun. since gilmore girls wasn't on, we put in season 1 and watched some episodes. i'm slowly transforming her into a monster...just like i did with robyn. :)

points are updated from last week and this week. sorry for those of you who didn't jump on the train early enough. your loss.

okay...it's late and i have to be up early. peace out.
oh yeah...i have to type something up about the new kids on the block. don't let me forget. it's gonna be a great post.

movie trivia v.9

i didn't think i was going to get this up today, but luckily i already had it ready to post. if i hadn't there wouldn't have been any movie trivia today. i've been sick...i have bronchitis. but it seems the meds they gave me just make me sleepy and i don't want to eat...which is a bad thing because i have to eat with the medicine. i've also been incredibly tired...which isn't good because i started working a temp job. i'll tell more about it...but i'm tired and i need to go back to bed. i came home from work today at 6 and went to sleep until 9...got up...ate a peanut butter sandwich...took medicine...watched cis with jaclyn...and now i'm going to go back to bed. hopefully i'll feel better in the morning.now...on to better stuff.

manic monday might be good today...

so i just got home from an interview. i think that it went really well. the actual job seems great. there's only 8 people who work there, so it's a fairly small office. the people i met today seemed wonderful. i should know something sometime this week. i feel pretty good about it. the girl who interviewed me said that she thought i'd be a good fit. so i guess we'll see. i'm begining to be an expert on the patient thing.

on a sad note, it's the time of year where the cold comes. i don't like it. last tuesday it was 75 degrees, then a cold front came in that night and we had horrible weather. wednesday the temperature was in the 40s. not good for amy. i definitely believe that it's a conspiracy. every thanksgiving i get sick. i'm trying to fight it off sooooo bad. but i'm pretty sure i'm on the verge of bronchitis. not fun. especially if it gets in the way of my turkey eating!

fun pictures

there's a lot to do to catch up on what's been going on and there have been a lot of things over the past few weeks that i wanted to post. i don't know if i'll post much else, but here are some fun pictures. robyn, they should at least make you happy.

this is the movie shelf. it's actually completely full now.

this is the living room...we've already moved things around a little. we moved the papasan chair to the other side of the loveseat. the side tables are part of the collection we came home with after the flea market.

this is the kitchen. obviously.

this is the awesome coffee table we found at the flea market. i absolutely love it!

this is the dining room. we got the table and chairs at the flea market too!

it's still in the sink, if you want to glue it.

"you did have hair when you went in there, right?"
"yeah. it's still in the sink, if you want to glue it."

yesterday i decided that i couldn't take it anymore. i've been talking about needing a haircut since before the move. and since i'm absolutely broke, i decided if i wanted it cut, i was going to have to do it myself. so i did.

i'm not sure if you've ever cut your own hair or not, but it's a lot of fun. it's not the first time i've done it. but it is the first time i've only cut an inch and a half off though. once in high school i went crazy one night and just started cutting. then end result wasn't exactly what i wanted, but it was fun. it's such a liberating process. probably not so much for a boy...but definitely for a girl.

then i started thinking about all the movies that have girls cutting their hair...
i'm missing movie triva, so here's a chance to make up some points to you. 100 pts for each movie you name where a girl cuts her hair (or does something drastic to it).

i'll start...empire records.

i'm baaaaaack!

yay! we finally have internet access whenever we want it. i'm so excited. now, i'll have to get back into the swing of things. it's great being able to look up things when i have a question about something instead of asking other people. i never really realized how dependant i'd become of the world wide web. it's kinda scary. but i'm back. and i'll resume posting regularly. that is if there's anyone left who reads it who hasn't given up on me!

not having the internet is going to be the end of me

i HATE not having the internet. it's driving me nuts. when i want to look something up, i can't. when i want to get directions, i can't. when i want to check my email, i can't. when i want to look for jobs, i can't. it sucks. that's all i got.

life and death and in between

yesterday, the plan was to finish hanging up pictures in my room, go get a tn drivers license, and do a few other things. i talked to my mom about 1 yesterday afternoon to find out a couple things. wednesday, my grandma had been taken to the ER because she was having pains. her appendix almost ruptured, but they were able to take it out just in time. she's still in the hospital, and probably will be until sunday. she has an infection, but she's doing okay. i just saw her on sunday and she was perfectly fine, so to even think that if she hadn't gotten to the hospital in time something horrible could have happened. it's nuts. i also found out that a great aunt had died and the funeral was today. i wasn't planning on a trip home this weekend, but that's what it turned in to.

i wasn't close with this aunt, but there are some things i distinctly remember about her. one was that she was this crazy little old lady who was known for doing the hula. she'd put on her little grass skirt, and dance the hula. i have no idea about the story behind it...but all i know is that i remember it. so it was pretty hillarious when i walked in today to see her hula skirt hanging up beside the casket along with pictures of her actually doing the hula. i had a bit of an elizabethtown moment. it only got stronger as i tried to contain myself at the end, when i realized she was being burried with the hula skirt.

i was asked a question in an interview not too long ago, "if you were to die tomorrow, what would you want people to say about you at your funeral?" at the time, i thought it was a pretty tough question. but after today, i'm pretty sure that i'd want to hear most of the same things i heard today about my great aunt alma. everything i heard today was about what a great woman she was. she was all about her family, always planning get togethers and family events so her family and friends could be together. in fact, before her death, she was part of planning for a huge family reunion later in the month (it's still going to happen). but all the stories talked about what a great woman of faith she was. one of her daughters told a story about how she let a bag woman into their home and cooked her dinner. once she had fed the lady and she left she told her husband that she was trying to get beyond the smell of the woman because she "stunk to high heaven." so he asked her why she'd invited her in. her response was "because you never know what clothes jesus is wearing." and that was pretty much the same theme of most of the stories i heard today. that, and the fact that she loved to make people laugh and i'm sure that's where the hula came in handy.
